FAQ for Students

How do I join a project?
An application form for research projects  during the 2014-2015 academic year will be released in January 2015.

When do projects take place?  Teams will be formed by the end of January and research projects  are undertaken between February and May.

I’m only a first year/ I don’t study economics/ I don't know anything about the project I applied to do  – Can I still participate in a project?
Research projects are open to students from all years and all subjects.
We endeavour wherever possible to match students to  projects reflecting skills & experience.

How much of a commitment is participating in a research project?
The time commitment involved differs between projects depending on the number of people who are allocated to the projects and the nature of the project. Generally groups will meet up about once a week or fortnight to divide up research work, which will be done individually. The research work will probably take up a few hours per week.

How do you allocate research projects ?
Research projects are allocated on the basis of skills, experience & preferences. On your application form, there will be an opportunity for you to tells us about any  specific research interests or specific skills that you might have.

How do I join the MERG committee?
